So I only have a few episodes of Daria left, then I need something new to watch.

Suggestions?

I’m looking down my Plan to Watch list on My Anime List and can’t decide.

Any suggestions? Even something that’s not on my list. I feel like something cutesy after watching Daria and all its cynicism.

A note.

zeroye:

I feel like some cosplayers get bad reps for cosplaying homestuck. I’ve brought up cosplayers in convos and I usually get something akin to:

“Oh, he/she has a homestuck cosplay right?”

Maybe it’s just me.

But I hope none of you judge me for liking it, because it’s stupid to judge someone on what they like.

I have been seeing a lot of this lately.

I’ll admit five years ago I would actively avoid people of certain fandoms, because in my experience I felt they were full of squealing weeaboo teenyboppers who wanted to force their insane yaoi pairings on everything and were generally obnoxious. I would scoff when I heard people say they liked Naruto and in more recent years I tended to avoid Hetalia fans because I’d heard bad things about them.

But nowadays I’m aware that it’s not the fandom that makes people worthy of avoidance, it’s the person.

When you hear about hyperactive Hetalia cosplayers mistreating national flags (like using them as picnic blankets and dragging them on the ground and generally abusing them) it’s not Hetalia that make them obnoxious and discourteous. They were always that way. (Personally I do feel a flag is a piece of fabric and nothing more, but I am also aware it takes two seconds to fold it and place it somewhere instead of just throwing it on the ground so there is no excuse and I don’t allow my own cynical realism to insult others)

I think there’s a tendency for people to avoid the “flavor of the month” because it attracts undesirables. Things like Naruto, or Hetalia, or Black Butler, or Homestuck are popular, and when something attracts a larger group there will always be a higher percentage of that group who are asshats. These asshats feel like no one likes them because of their asshattedness, so they think “maybe if I get into this thing that all these people are into, they’ll accept me and like me” and meet other asshats in that group so they feel their behavior is validated.

Sometimes these people are just young, and just need someone to inform them that certain things are unacceptable, like sitting on a flag like a picnic blanket, and sometimes they are beyond hope. The fact of the matter is though, that you shouldn’t think lowly of someone just because they like something and “All Narutards are weeaboo weirdos”. You should meet them first, and if they turn out to be a spastic weeb, there’s nothing to stop you from just not hanging out with them.

This pretty much how I feel about Durarara! fan fiction. It’s all Shizaya, and there’s none at all for the Celty/Shinra fans.
I love all well-written characters. I hate characters because they’re poorly written, not because of their personalities.
Elfen Lied is probably the perfect example.
Kenshin is my absolutely favorite character.
In a way I disagree, because Gravitation is kind of REALLY bad, but in another way, for my generation it was usually the “first boy love” for a lot of people.
Sentimental value, even though it’s actually a terrible anime, and the manga art makes my eyes bleed.
